PROJECTS
Plant Improvement - Cerro Negro Norte CMP
The Cerro Negro Norte Mine, owned by Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) belonging to the CAP group, is located in the Atacama region, Chile. The site comprises a mine-plant complex in which open-pit mineral exploitation and processing are carried out. It is dedicated to the production of Pellet Feed (Iron concentrate), which is transported as pulp to the Puerto Punta Totoralillo facilities, from where it is shipped to its final destination.
- PMC advised CMP on a project developed by the MOPE company to implement selective grinding of Iron ores.
- PMC participated as a counterpart in PFS (Hatch) engineering and laboratory tests (SGS), together with a MOPE specialist.
The project considered the following aspects:
- Grinding in two stages in series.
- The first stage with P80 250 um includes an open circuit with 60% solids pulp to facilitate the heavier iron ore stratification and evacuate silica ore in the overflow.
- The second stage considered the magnetic concentration rougher that generates thick tailings suitable for paste thickening.
- The rougher concentrate is ground to P80 45-50 um for the cleaning stage.
- Finally, the high-frequency screening stage removes the coarse silica.
